I get it, tons and tons of you are wondering to yourselves, "Self, who is the brilliant brain and charismatic character behind Dad Strategies? Okay okay okay, I'll tell you. I'll let the cat outta the bag. I'll spill the beans. I'll cut the cheese. I'm Chris Hemsworth, that action star and Hollywood hunk. Yup, Thor himself is penning this page. That's the real reason I wasn't in Captain America: Civil War. Wow, that feels great to get off my chest.

Actually, I'm just a dad who decided I had to do something to change the current cultural landscape about what it means to be a dad. So many dads are marginalized and stereotyped as being unnecessary or ancellary in the parenting dynamics. We talk about "Absentee Fathers" and "Dead Beat Dads" like they are ONLY kind of dads out there. I fundamentally don't belive that this is the case. I don't think that's an accurate representation of the dads in our society.

I started Dad Strategies to help shift some of the dialogue that occurs about dads, their role in the lives of their children, their relationships with community, and how they can be a bit better. I spend a great deal of time working with and talking to other dads about how to maximize the important role of father, in the lives of my children and society at large. As a single dad who doesn't get to spend nearly as much time with my kids as I'd like, I constantly am trying to become a better dad.

I appreciate that everyone's situation is different. Isn't there saying about snowflakes or something to that effect? There is? Okay, so snowflakes and dads are the same, but not the same because no snowflake and or dad is the same. So they are the same and different at same the time. They are the same but different and the different difference of the same sameness. What I'm trying to say is that every situation, family dynamic, parent-child relationship is different, and unique and beautiful and wonderful.

What my main goal here is to invite everyone, dads, moms, kiddos, grandparents, aliens, investment bankers, celebrities like Chris Hemsworth and others who were not cast in Captain America: Civil War, to come here and find inspiration, ideas for parents, and encouragement for dads that no matter the rubric or the metric, if you are genuinely trying your best to be a great dad, you are in fact, a great dad.

In other news, this is my twin sister and I at some sort of modeling gig we had. I know, I know, I know: we are the cutest little amazing models to ever grace the shoe and baby clothes aisle of what is probably a Macys or a Nordstrom in the 90's. Ugh, the life of a child model was rough, and competitive, and really non-existent for me. BUT I have told about 12,482 people that I was a model, so here is undeniable proof that I, infact, was a model. Also, my twin sister is my best friend. Also, also, look how undeniably cute we were. Honestly, if a modeling agency out ther wants to use this photo as part of any campaign, I give full permission.
